Call for Bids: Learning Enhancement and Innovation Bids 2016-17
University of Northampton staff from all academic schools, faculties and professional services departments are invited to bid for funds that will enable them to run projects in the field of pedagogic development, research and innovation.
The deadline for submission is Monday the 12th September 2016.

This report, commissioned by Eduserv, investigates the ‘live’ issues facing universities
around the provision of IT and library resources against the backdrop of pressures
to improve the overall student experience.
- The changing expectations of the modern day student around the availability and application of key learning resources.
- The biggest challenges facing universities in the delivery of student learning resources.
- The significance of digital innovations versus traditional forms of learning in delivery.
Jisc Report: Technology for Employability is now available...
The report identifies that many universities and colleges are missing vital opportunities to better equip students with the digital skills, confidence and experience needed. It provides practical recommendations to adopting a whole-institution approach to changing practice, and stresses the need to integrate the development of student employability, employer engagement and use of technology into programme design and assessment through concepts such as ‘connected curricula’.
In a nutshell the report includes:
- The findings from the research into the challenges faced by universities and colleges and the benefits that technology can offer.
- An overview of the key skills employers are looking for and the opportunities offered by universities and colleges to provide those skills.
- A 5–dimensional model that helps to make sense of the many ways that technology can be used to enhance the development of student employability.
- Recommendations and guidance to programme teams, institutions and sector bodies on enhancing student employability with technology.
- Effective practice examples from 20 universities, FE colleges and skills providers which include highly creative uses of technology, for example in enabling student engagement with peers, staff and employers e.g. in solving real-world problems.
