Designing Out Plagiarism
WHAT STAFF NEED(S) WILL THE WORKSHOP MEET?
- I've just started to work in HE and need to understand more about academic misconduct and plagiarism.
- I'd like to be able to spot typical mistakes in assessment design which can lead to academic misconduct occurring.
- I'm about to review all the assessments on my programme and want to make a start on 'designing out' plagiarism.
THROUGH THIS YOU WILL …
In this workshop you will explore New Forms of Plagiarism and how to deter plagiarism through assessment design. Working with sample assessment briefs submitted beforehand, you will have the chance to identify problematic issues and consider revisions which 'design out' opportunities for plagiarism.
THIS WORKSHOP WILL DEVELOP SPECIFIC SKILLS ALIGNED WITH THE UKPSF:
MAIN AREA OF ACTIVITY: A3 - In this workshop you will explore ways in which to design assessments that help to deter academic misconduct.
KEY CORE KNOWLEDGE: K2, K3, K6 - Drawing on your knowledge of how students learn (K3) you will explore assessment methods (K2) you could use in your subject area to ensure quality assessments which deter academic misconduct (K6).
PROFESSIONAL VALUES: V4 - This workshop will encourage you to consider how new forms of plagiarism are emerging across the HE sector and consider how to address this through good assessment design.
