WHAT STAFF NEED(S) WILL THE WORKSHOP MEET?
I’m new to Northampton and I need to understand assessment policy and practice in the University of Northampton.
I need to know who to ask for help with assessment-related issues.
THROUGH THIS YOU WILL …
- Review the University modular framework for assessment, the assessment and feedback policy, generic grade criteria and associated academic regulations
- Check your understanding of the above and discuss with colleagues
- Apply your understanding to scenarios you may face in practice
- The workshop activities will also give you a basic working knowledge of a teaching approach called Team-Based Learning.
THIS WORKSHOP WILL DEVELOP SPECIFIC SKILLS ALIGNED WITH THE UKPSF:
MAIN AREA OF ACTIVITY: A3 - This session will equip you to address common issues you may encounter when delivering and supporting assessment at the University of Northampton (A3).
KEY CORE KNOWLEDGE: K6 - This session will provide you with an understanding of the University’s approach to assessment, drawing on the framework, policy and regulations governing this complex area (K6).
PROFESSIONAL VALUES: V1 - The session will enable staff to adapt processes where necessary, working within the regulatory framework, to support individual student needs (V1).
SUPPORTING HEA FELLOWSHIP: D1, D2, D3 depending on staff role in the provision

MODE OF DELIVERY AND LENGTH
Pre-reading (90 minutes), face to face (90 minutes); Offered as part of the Academic Staff Induction Programme in a three hour session.
